Halloween Parties to be Remembered

Halloween is coming, and we’re more than aware of the kinds of problems that can arise during this time. One of which is Trick or Treating. Some of us are against the idea of Trick or Treating, and see the act of attiring our children as monsters and creepy things and sending them out and around the neighbourhood as a form of begging… which of course is problematic, as our children often want to do exactly what their friends are doing and don't care to be disappointed. Of course, there's a compromise. Hosting your own Halloween Party can be as simple as picking up some sweets (our favourites are Chupa Chups Lollipops) decorations and invites, and wearing a smile all night.

There's a lot to be said for hosting a little Halloween Party. Your little ones will absolutely adore the idea of hosting their own little gathering of ghouls, and you can be safe in the knowledge that they’re not out in the streets making nuisances of themselves. For the sake of hosting a party, there’s a number of things you can amass with very little effort, to make a great Halloween Party which will make certain that your children will be able to enjoy this time of year without compromising on your morals.

When you’re looking for Halloween Party Sweets, most would consider running to the supermarket and picking up big bags of all kinds of things to put into bowls and put on a table. Supermarkets can be a little risky, though. At this time of year, the shelves are usually bare (from other parents ensuring that they have enough sweets to go around for trick-or-treaters) and pickings, depending on when you go, can be rather slim. The odds of popping in on the night and picking up a few bargains are also very low, as supermarkets tend to give excess stock out to trick-or-treaters themselves.

Fortunately, there are a number of websites out there that can provide excellent deals on Halloween sweets, whether it’s themed or not. Our favourite site for such is a website called The Sweet Pot, that has the cheapest deals we’ve been able to find online, are UK based, and even better, offer free UK Delivery on all orders. You don’t have to order an ungodly amount of sweets to qualify for Free Delivery either—the deal applies to absolutely everything.

Our favourite deal on thesweetpot is 100 fully sized Chupa Chups Lollies for less than £10 – which is a better value deal than what we’ve been able to find anywhere. That, some of their other amazing deals on American candies, chocolate, Haribo sweets – as well as some light entertainment, spooky bunting, some cute table covers and invitations will ensure that your child’s Halloween Party will be widely regarded for some time to come.

Tie The Knot At The Groes Inn

September and the end of summer is the season to get wed, and we believe that municipal registry offices are a little bit dull. Tying the knot is supposed to be a special experience, and there are a number of hotels in Conwy and the surrounding areas that provide fully licensed marriage and partnership ceremonies which aren’t as stuffy as the far more traditional church ceremony or as faceless as a registry office – but special enough so your new mum and dad don’t think that you’re not super serious about the whole affair.

But which to choose? Your wedding day is supposed to be the most special day of your life, so we’ve traversed North Wales for the very best venues we can find in order to give your day what it deserves.

The Groes Inn in Tyn y Groes within the Conwy Valley is a fantastic venue. It’s large, spacious, and seats up to 100 people. Furthermore, it’s fully licensed. Here, you may have your ceremony and your reception within the building- which is a far more appealing prospect than moving all of your guests from pillar to post in order to have your ceremony and then deal with the celebrations.

You may have your ceremony in any of the Groes Inn’s public rooms, be it their airy and light conservatory, their wonderfully snug bar, or even the restaurant- in whichever style you choose. Whether you’d like to keep things classy and traditional, or even run around dressed as a Stormtrooper, (Please don't.) the Groes Inn’s staff (included as part of the package!) are fun, friendly, and attentive to all of your needs on your very special day.

The Groes Inn is the oldest licenced establishment in Wales, and it’s also unbelievably special as a wedding venue. Booking the Groes Inn couldn’t be easier – simply give them a call or an email with your dates and your requirements, and you’re well on the way to the best day of your life.

The Best Sunday Lunch In North Wales?

North Wales has recently turned into a foodie’s delight, thanks to investment from within and without. As result the region has flourished – with a number of truly fine eating establishments cropping up within the recent years – partially due to the fact that North Wales offers just about everything needed to provide excellent service. But what about Sunday lunch, a British staple? For Sunday Lunch in Caernarfon there’s one big winner out of some very tough competition.

With excellent transportation links, enough farmland to ensure local, fresh produce and of course the sea, North Wales offers restaurateurs the very best of both worlds. Proximity to mainland England so their deliveries are always fresh and never compromised, and an abundance of natural recourses us city-folk don’t normally have access to. In the city, we think growing our own herbs on a windowsill is enough. But in North Wales, that’s the base minimum of effort required to ensure an excellent meal.

We headed to a truly beautiful Country House in Snowdonia, the T’yn Rhos – in order to sample their fare, and we weren’t disappointed. Their dining room is exactly what we like – very well put together and offering a real fine dining experience, yet not pretentious. No, you won’t be looked upon kindly if you turn up in shorts and flip-flops, but it’s hardly a black tie affair. It’s just the right balance between classy and comfortable, and we’re big fans. We’ve also heard that their gigantic selection of wines is because of links to a local wine merchant...

Astoundingly, every menu that the T’yn Rhos serves is sourced that very day, mostly from the area around the Country House. Their talented team of chefs endeavour to provide fresh, great-tasting local produce from the surrounding region on a daily basis – there’s absolutely no food vans trundling around the corner with vacuum-packed food. And their Sunday lunch is more than exceptional.

We tucked into a chicken liver pate with toasted briorche (that was toasted just right!) and a fruit chutney that suggested that indeed, it had been made that day. For our main, we enjoyed a very traditional (but delicious) roast rib of beef, served with every trimming imaginable. While indeed they had a wonderful choice of desserts available, we couldn’t fit in much but a serving of gigantic strawberries, with fresh cream.

We’re convinced that the T’yn Rhos Country House serves the very best Sunday Lunch in North Wales. If you’d like to judge their offerings for yourself, please keep in mind that it is normally a busy event, so therefore reservations apply.

Best Kids Party Ideas

Creating the perfect children’s party can be tough business. A simple gathering of children with sweet treats just won’t do anymore – especially when we think about how big themed parties becoming the norm. Even if you do have the money to spend on all things lavish, it doesn’t guarantee everyone will be entertained. At the heart of it all, it’s all about having fun with your friends, so we’ve got the best kids party ideas to give everyone something to remember.

Teddy bear party – This is a great one for kids of all ages that still give you huge variety in what you actually decide to do. Go all out and 10 no sewing and no fuss bear making kits. They keep children entertained making their own special bear that they can take home and treasure. Ask the kids to bring their favourite soft toys along to show and share or even go bear mad with the decorations.

Build a fort – We all have fond memories of building our secret hideout as children. Why not dig out a few bedsheets and build one or two forts right in the living room. When you’re finished, eat your treats in the fort or even have a sleepover party in them!

Activity day - Fun days out for the children will always give them something to remember. There’s so much choice, particularly in the activity hub of North Wales. Why not have a climbing party with all your friends? Many climbing centres now facilitate children’s parties providing them with fun and colourful courses to test out their abilities and build character. Bounce Below, based in Blaenau Ffestiniog offer fun days out letting you bounce your way through an underground world of nets, lights and  music.

Craft Party – A firm favourite for girls but boys can certainly get involved too with the huge range of unisex kits out there. For as little as £30 you can buy giant, complete wristband kits online which will keep children entertained for hours. If you’re feeling really creative why not decorate your own trinket, make your own bag or even build and decorate your own birdhouse. This idea can get a bit messy but it’s one that’s guaranteed to be loved by all.

Chossing the right Kennels for you Four Legged Pal

Kennels in Rhyl have always been the perfect option for helping your pets have a residence outside the family home. Although it may not seem necessary for many dog owners, it can have some advantages when compared with having your canine stay inside all the time.

It’s important to consider that Dogs, as living, breathing animals require a safe and warm place to reside, this means that any externally based abode needs to be built with adequate insulation, and that if the weather conditions outside are unsuitable that appropriate action is taken; ie, the hound is allowed inside the house.

Choosing a kennel is no task to be rushed, to run out and buy the first or cheapest kennel you can see would be a fool’s error and could have an impact on the life of your dog.

Wooden, metal and plastic kennels all have their arguments, but all offer different benefits. Wooden kennels look attractive, are good insulators providing they have a waterproofed roof which will withstand the season’s wrath.

Plastic kennels are another option, if you have a dog which likes to chew things, and are fundamentally waterproof. Metal kennels offer another choice, so long as the metal has been coated it wont rust quickly, and provid the dog with years of use.
The kennel needs a opening which is big enough for the do
g to enter and leave easily, but is not so big that it will let too much of the elements within. There needs also to allow the pet to get snug and warm at the far end of the kennel where it will be sheltered sufficiently.
Remember, if one of the reasons that you want the dog to live outside the house is the fact that they’re… messy, well the story is still the same out here, you need to be able to access your kennel so you can regularly clean out the kennel, refresh the dog’s bedding make sure they haven’t made too much of a mess!

If you are going away, remember just because your dog now has it’s own house doesn’t mean you can leave it alone. Those who dwell in North Wales will be pleased to hear that there are some excellent boarding kennels in Abergele available.
